I hope you enjoyed the Canada Day long weekend with family and friends! Even though warm days have set in, there is lots of work taking place at City Hall over the summer months.
As you know, summer means construction season and there is lots of work taking place across the city in the coming weeks. Crews are busy on numerous projects across Saskatoon including the new North Bridge, repaving of College Drive and the Broadway areas, expanding the intersection of Attridge & Central, and repairing overpasses around our city. Please take your time in construction zones to ensure that everyone who is working on these important projects gets home safely each day.
As you know, the last few days of June were challenging with the water advisory issues that we experienced in North East Saskatoon. A contractor who was working for one of the provincial utilities (not working for the City) hit a major water pipe which caused a precautionary boil water advisory to be issued for more than three days. It will take some time for all the details to come out, but you have my commitment that I will work to ensure that those responsible are held accountable for what happened.
I want to say a huge thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding with the water situation. I saw many wonderful examples of people getting information to each other and neighbours helping neighbours with picking up clean water from the Fire Halls. I’d also like to send my thanks to the countless civic staff who helped get things back to normal as quickly as possible. Our community is a great place to live because people look out for one another. The water issues we had were just another example of how people step up when we face challenges.
As always, it is an honour to serve you at City Hall. I hope you have a chance to attend my 4th Annual Ward 10 Community BBQ on July 20th and I look forward to seeing you in the neighbourhood over the summer!
All the best,
